Rae Guest comes from a family steeped in racing's past present and future. After 20 successful years as a professional flat jockey, he began training in 1989. He is best known for bringing out the best in the fillies he trains, who have included many top class Group and Listed winners in England and abroad, in particular high class stayer My Emma (Group 1 Yorkshire Oaks, Prix Vermeille); multiple winning Millyant(Group 2 Prix du Gros Chene; Group 3 Prix de Petit Couvert); Group 3 winning sprinter Miss Anabaa; classic places Listed winner Aldbourne; and high class stayers Moments of Joy and Marakabei. From his expanding yard in Newmarket's Hamilton Road, Rae has shown that he can train whatever type of horse his owners send him. Rae's record shows that he takes pride in getting the best out of every horse, whatever their talents. The Guest Family Rae's Father Charlie was a jump jockey and trainer in Holland and Germany; uncle Nelson was another jockey and trainer and uncle Joe ('the iron man') was fearless over fences. Younger relatives include Richard Rowe, the successful former jump jockey now training and cousins Eddie, Gordon and Jimmy Guest, all former jockeys. Rae is the eldest of six. He has four sisters, including leading amateur rider Sally Eddery, who are all involved in the business, but it is younger brother Richard who is best known for his heroics in cajoling Red Marauder around the Grand National to success in 2001. The Guests were once described by The Sporting Life as "a family who make Dynasty's Carringtons look positively pedestrian"!
