Minalisa completes double

Chris Mills' home bred filly Minalisa went one closer than last year when winning the Sweet Mimmosa Stakes at Naas in Southern Ireland last night.

Again partnered by champion Irish jockey Fran Berry, she tracked the long time leader before making her challenge over a furlong out and asserting soon after. Last year Fran thought the undulations cost her the race when she was beaten a short head, but with the undulations having been removed there was no such hiccups this time round.

Congratulations to Hollie who took her over to Ireland and to all the staff, including Rachel (pictured riding her) who put the finishing touches to her at the weekend.  Special mention must also go to local transport company Rent-Right who transport the majority of our overseas runners and do a great job.

Minalisa brought up a quick-fire double just over an hour after First Experience got off the mark on turf at Leicester.  Again First Experience tracked the leaders well before asserting a furlong out under former champion jockey Kieren Fallon.  She showed improved form to win with a little in hand after running a promising race before getting tired last time out.

Congratulations to her enthuastic owners, the Fit or Fat partnership and Guy Carstairs.  Well done also to Anna who led her up, Hollie who looks after her (she was at Naas) and all the team.
