Rae Guest announces retirement

Rae has announced that he is retiring from training racehorses from early 2025 after 36 years.  He is incredibly grateful for the support of his owners, some of whom have been with him for his whole career, which has seen him train four Group 1 winners among 30 black type horses, most of them fillies.

Highlights have been a Guineas placed filly (Aldbourne) in his first year, his first Pattern winner (Molecomb winner Millyant for Chris and Lesley Mills), training her homebred son Mirza to multiple Group and Listed wins; Group 1 Prix Vermeille and Yorkshire Oaks winner My Emma, also training her daughter Moments of Joy to Listed success.  Serious Attitude was a rags to riches story for long-standing owner Derek Willis, winning the Group 1 Cheveley Park Stakes and Grade 1 Nearctic Stakes and selling for $1.85 million in 2010.  This year Rae was also proud to train Divina Grace to Listed success at Newmarket for another great supporter, Eamonn Duggan.

Rae has sold the yard to Jack Jones, who has been training successfully from a barn at the yard since 2022, and some of the horses will move across to Jack.  Rae and Rachel will be staying put and keeping a barn until the end of November 2025.

Rae would also like to thank the staff who have worked for him over the years, especially John Wilsoncroft, his head lad for most of his career.  Between them, they have trained several good people as well as horses.  They know who they are.
