Amicable Terms has conquered her fear of the stalls (with active assistance at different times from Rae, rider Karl Pierrepont, travelling head lad Andrew and head lad John!) to win by a neck at Redcar today under jockey of the moment Ted Durcan. There was high excitement among her owners Sentinel Bloodstock (a Woods family conglomerate), Trevor and Jackie Barnett, Bob Goodes, John Fullick and Barry Stewart as she kept them guessing until the final stride, winning by just a neck after being pushed across to the stands side by the eventual second. Everyone in the yard has put a lot of work into Amicable Terms owing to her unaccountable aversion to the stalls (she is cool as a cucumber the rest of the time) and her owners have been mighty patient as it has been almost like going back to the drawing board every time she goes racing, but she has always shown ability. So many thanks to everyone involved - lets hope she shows no ill effects from today's fast ground tomorrow. Breeders post-script: Royal Applause seems to be the stallion to follow in our yard this year, being the sire of four of our five winners. Let's hope this continues as there are another two unraced ones in the yard! |
