Filligree did the hat trick for the yard this afternoon, earning a thoroughly deserved success under apprentice Jamie Hamblett at Brighton. Filligree got off the mark in good style by three lengths, rewarding the work of Noel Garbutt who looks after and rides her at home. It is great to have a winner for Tony Hirschfeld's enthusiastic syndicate, and hopefully they were all able to find the time to go to sunny Brighton to see this great success. Tony is standing for re-election to the ROA Council in coming weeks so all members please vote for him, he is doing a sterling job! It was also good to see Jamie Hamblett in the plate for this winner. Jamie's father Paul rode for Rae when he started as a trainer, finishing second on Aldborne in the 1,000 Guineas, Jamie's uncles Steve and Martin also worked for Rae at one time and Jamie himself did his first riding out on yard hack PG (see Present Generation horse page for photographic proof) and Rachel's mare Fifth Edition. All in all an excellent winner. Third winner in four days. Fantastic. |
