Yesterday saw the first Chestnut Tree Stables owners' brunch, Rae's chance to say thank you to all his owners for their support over the years. We took the decision to forego the Christmas party this year in favour of a summer celebration, taking something of a chance on the weather as it was to be outside. When the day came the weather could not be faulted other than some complaints of sunburn! Around 65 supporters enjoyed head chef Lesley Mills' devilled kidneys, sausages, bacon and scrambled egg; and Emma O'Gorman's kedgeree washed down with a glass of champagne or bucks fizz. This was a great effort by Lesley and Emma who headed the catering corps. We were pleased to welcome so many people to the yard including the owners of this year's winners Amicable Terms, After the Show, Rosa Grace, Si Belle, Filligree and Lady Carollina who all took away a portrait of their winner by Rachel Flynn. Everyone seemed to enjoy the food, weather, atmosphere and company and one person actually said that it was better than the Darley lunch! |
