OK, OK, we know this is the one you want to hear about. It would be nice to say that the sun smiled on Serious Attitude this morning as it had done on Wednesday when Racing Post reporter Peter Thomas came to visit, but sadly it didn't. In fact it was overcast and thinking about raining, the sun only came to Newmarket in the afternoon. With the problems with the summer gallop sorted, there was a fair crowd coming to see Serious Attitude work with Dichoh over 6 1/2 furlongs. There is a fantastic team spirit in evidence in our yard at present and Mike Hill (Hill of Miller) and friends were there; Rae's dad Charlie and his friend Fred; Chris and Lesley Mills; Ian Booth (Zelos Girl, Spirit, Bohobe); Brian and Elaine Cooper (Daniella, Style Icon) all added to the watching crowd. And they were not disappointed as Serious Attitude ridden by Karl Pierrepont joined up with Dichoh (Sam Davis) easily and pleasingly with two to go, before he rallied and took her right to the end just as a good lead horse should. So if the trainer was a bit jumpy beforehand (he was) he came away happy, the more so after he spoke to Karl who reported himself extremely pleased with the work. She seems safe and well this evening and the plan is to turn her out in the paddock on Sunday morning if the weather is clement. |
