Serious Attitude bounces back to form 10/07/2009

It was more a day of relief than elation on Friday when Serious Attitude showed beyond a doubt that she was back with us at three years old, when winning the Group 3 Cuisine de France Summer Stakes at York. This was no walk in the park for the stable star as Karl Burke's Lessons in Humility was well fancied and in red hot form, having just finished third in the Group 1 Golden Jubilee Stakes at Royal Ascot; and there was also multiple Group winner Look Busy to contend with, recently the winner of the Group 2 Temple Stakes. Serious Attitude was a bit keen on the way to post but seemed much happier going 6 furlong pace in the race itself, jockey Eddie Ahern reported. She needed a bit of a wake up call today, but really pulled out more when needed to score by a head from Lessons in Humility. Principal owner Derek Willis was well supported by many friends and family who had travelled up from London on the train and no doubt the party later went with a swing. Serious Attitude's next target is the Prix Maurice de Gheest at Deauville on 9 August.
