Corton Charlemagne wins at last 09/08/2009

Corton Charlemagne has always been a lovely filly and it is a source of some surprise that yesterday was her first day in the winner's spot at Windsor. Rae was absolutely delighted to see her get her head in front at last under a good ride from William Carson. Really well done to William and owners David Alexander, Bill Bottriell, Cheval Court Stud and Lester Piggott. Serious Attitude wasn't able to keep up the roll but still ran a good race at Deauville, showing a lot of speed but unfortunately finding herself on the wrong side of the track. As it was she was beaten only 5 lengths and any Group 1 sprint against colts and older horses was always going to be a big ask. She is back at home now and lives to fight another day.
