It has been a quiet couple of weeks for runners, but those with a chance have, in the main, taken it. Colin Murfitt and Steve Russell's Rescent had run well to be second first time out and went one place better at Newcastle this evening under Paul Hanagan. She looked to have a hopeless task a furlong out after being baulked at a crucial moment, but she ran on admirably to score a head success. This was Colin's first winner from his mare Bukhoor and while it was excellent that she won, it was sad news that she was claimed and so did not return to the yard. Well done to Colin though, he has a beautiful place at Soham and it is good to see Pantile Stud winners. |
