Pretty Officer has often been the bridesmaid so it was great to see her in the #1 spot in the winner's enclosure at Yarmouth yesterday. Yard apprentice Noel Garbutt was doing the steering and did an excellent job, following instructions to the letter and not letting her give up when she was headed in the final furlong. Noel cannot have had more than ten rides and this was his second winner, although he also very nearly conjured a win out of Pretty Officer earlier in the season when finishing second a short head. All Noel's family were there cheering him on. This was the first time they have seen him ride a winner and they are certain to remember it, especially as they picked up the owners' prize on behalf of the ROA partnership. Well done to Pretty Officer, Noel and Farman who led her up. |
