Wishing all our readers a very happy new year and the best of success and many winners in 2010. All our horses are a year older from January 1st, and the real old codgers Present Generation (18) and Montecristo (17) are still alive and kicking and still with us in the yard, kicking being the more operative word in the case of Montecristo, who has always been handy with his hindlegs. Christmas and New Year are always fairly hairy times in any flat yards as half the lads are off over each holiday period so apart from the runners the horses are on the walker only. Tomorrow morning will be a Monday morning worse than most for fresh horses and if the icy weather persists they may get out only as far as the indoor ride, which is a boon in this weather, so at least they will get their backs down a bit before they set foot on the heath. |
