We have just about had all the weather one could possibly want in Newmarket this winter. Weeks of snow have given way to rain and there is water lying on many of the all-weathers. Rae has battled to get the horses out at all for much of the winter and the indoor ride has proved a godsend even now as the trotting ring in the paddock is under water. Still the two year olds are starting to look more like racehorses than shaggy ponies and the older horses, who have been raring to go, are getting their wish in cantering although maybe not yet as fast as their brains say they would like to be going. Lastroseofsummer and After the Show have entries later in the week. It is still difficult to imagine that the flat season will start again later this month when you look out of the window! Roll on summer. |
