Sam gallant runner up in prestigious Stud and Stable Staff Awards 01/03/2010

Sam Davis, his Mum and Dad and Rae and Rachel this afternoon attended the sixth annual Stud and Stable Staff Awards kindly sponsored by Godolphin. A specially invited audience of 150 people from within the sport gathered to pay tribute to the leading stud hands and stable employees in the country. Although the title in Sam's section was taken by James Gray from Whitsbury Farm and Stud, Sam, at 19 years old, was the youngest person there and all his supporters were very proud of him. The overall award was taken by Stuart Messenger, Sir Michael Stoute's head lad. Unfortunately Michael Owen, who had been due to make the presentations, was unable to owing to a hamstring injury sustained in Sunday's Carling Cup Final. His very able replacement was former Classic-winning jockey John Reid, himself a credit to his profession. Although he didn't win, there were only 18 nominees were in the room and we were very pleased and proud that 'our' Sam was one of them. This is one runner-up to be delighted with.
