Well done Chrome

Rae was delighted to see Perry Martin and Art Sherman's California Chrome score a facile victory at Meydan this evening as part of his preparation for the Dubai World Cup.  Great stuff, go Chrome!  Well done everybody.

Charlotte Clayton licence update

Charlotte and Rae are grateful to everyone who has shown an interest in her ongoing application for an apprentice licence featured in The Racing Post, including those who have written to us directly to express their support, thank you, we really appreciate it!

The current situation is that on 11th February we sent a further batch of supporting evidence to the BHA, including two independent assessments of Charlotte’s riding, to enable BHA to reconsider their refusal of her application to attend the apprentice licence course on grounds that she is at 24 considered ‘too old’ to pursue a professional career as a jockey.

We await the BHA’s reconsideration of Charlotte’s application based on all the evidence provided.

Mirza takes to the skies again

Our stable star, Mirza, left Chestnut Tree Stables this afternoon as he embarks on another trip to Dubai for the Dubai World Cup Carnival.

He will be arriving early tomorrow morning, which will give him a nice amount of time to prepare for his first intended run on Thursday 18th February.

The owner, Chris Mills, already has his son, Robbie, out in Dubai to meet Mirza on his arrival - he will be looking after his care during his first weeks in UAE.

Mirza has more stamps in his passport than most of us at the yard and takes the travel in his stride!

The whole yard are behind him and wishing him the best of luck.

Skylark Lady off the mark

Skylark Lady got off the mark in Chelmsford's first race this evening.

Stepping into handicap company for the first time, the filly was steadied towards the rear of the field under Chris Catlin and made her move two out - she stayed on resolutely to hold off a short-priced rival who was finishing best of the rest.

Congratulations go to the filly's owner Colin Murfitt, Stephen Dodds who looks after her and Rachel who rides her most days.

New syndicate open for business

Rae has recently bought three yearling fillies for our new syndicate; they are by Kyllachy, Canford Cliffs and Dandy Man, all established sires of two year olds and all from fast families.

The basic form of the syndicate is four partners, three horses and a fixed fee per month (£10,000 + VAT buy-in per 25% share, plus £1,500 per month per 25% share). These 25% shares can be split further between owners if this is something you and some friends would like to get involved in together and form a quarter share. This allows owners to spread the risk of ownership between a number of horses and to share the fun of racehorse ownership with a group of like-minded partners.

More details on the three fillies involved can be found on the Horses for Sale page or contact the office to find out more and arrange a visit to view them.
